It is very likely that there are still some errors in this game - so please give feedback (see below) :-)
You can find the rules here - below there is some information about possible errors and the differences to the "common" rules by Andrew and Terry.
- Known errors:
- I can't start a new game, and I don't see any active games although I know that one is running right now!
- In that case, you probably don't have a "real" java engine installed. Download it at http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/download.html (Table "Download J2SE v 1.4.2", left column) and install it, following the instructions.
- If the game still doesn't run after you installed Java, find the option labelled something like "Use java [version number] for <applet> in your Internet Preferences, and make sure it is checked (this should work for Windows XP, anyway).
- If there are any other problems or the game still doesn't work afterwards, see below :-)
- The last two rules are not implemented yet, and it's not possible to choose which rules to use, so that all rules are enabled in every game.
- Bids are given in pennies - so to bet a whole AM-$, you'd have to enter '100'.
- The dealer is the one who starts a game.
- The minimum bid is 5 pence.
- It is possible to quit a game and enter another one, thereby keeping the money you have won. If you don't have any money left, just press "reload", and you can start over again :-)
- The card game is a "real" Discworld game with eight different suits For the hands "Flush", "Broken Flush" etc. there are four pairs of matching suits. These are identified by the colour in which the value on the card is written: White (Elephant and Crown), blue (Octogram and Cup), red (Turtle and Coin) and black (Staff and Dagger).
- Whenever in the showdown two people play the same hand, both of them have to play their second best to determine the winner, etc. For this purpose, the "used" cards are locked and can't be played again. To mark these cards visually, they are moved down a bit.
- If you have further questions, comments, etc., please contact me by AIM (Drumknott) or by Mail (harry@stadtwache.net). :-)
- Please do so especially if you find any errors in the game (or translation errors in this text or in the rules - my English is not perfect) - that's what this testing phase is meant for.
